Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I've been fascinated by Daniel Piker's Kangaroo cushions, and was trying to

expand on his example script to study how the different "pillows" would inflate and

create overall shape when they are welded at the edges. The problem is that I have

trouble joining two pillow-form meshes. I've tried wbJoin method, but as soon as I run Kangaroo Rhino crashes.

I've attached the definition and the rhino file, as well as my physical study model to

illustrate my intent. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi,

There's actually no need to weld the 2 meshes together - because if the vertices are coincident along their common edge those nodes will automatically get joined in Kangaroo. By welding them earlier you create a non-manifold mesh, which could be causing problems with face orientations, which need to be consistent for the pressure component to work.

Hi Daniel,

Based on your suggestion, I assumed that I can assign multiple meshes in a single mesh container and just run a simulation. Rhino crashes again.. I'm having trouble understanding how I should feed the multiple meshes to Kangaroo.

Thanks again for your help-

It looks like the problem was with the duplication of mesh edges, since they were being counted from every face.
