algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I fabricate custom graduated cylinders and have no problem calculating where the graduations should be within uv curves and applying them to the cylindrical surface for machining.

What would be really great is if I could take a series of numbers, possibly as text, and locate them relative to the  appropriate graduation marks.  Can anyone point me in the right direction to do this?

What might help you is if you search for some examples where people create waffle shapes and lay out the panels for laser cutting or CNC routering etc. There are examples where shapes have been moved to grid points.

You could do something similar but your shapes would be text curves and you would move them to a series of points.

Create a Series to represent the text you want and generate the text curves. Move these to the points you want them and then wrap them on to a cylinder. I am not sure how you would wrap them to a cylinder but maybe have a look at Victor's waffle model first and see if you can work out how he lays out his panels.

Possibly a starting point!
