algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Honeybee is the new insect to fly next to Ladybug for connecting Grasshopper to EnergyPlus and Radiance! Here is the Honeybee preview video: ~12 minutes for explaining energy simulation workflow and ~12 minutes for explaining the daylighting simulation workflow with Honeybee!

Hello,
I a have an error in honey bee any help plz?
the error is:
1. Failed to download the files needed to run EnergyPlus with OpenStudio 2.x.
SystemError('The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.',)
2. Failed to download the files needed to PostProcess EnergyPlus results with OpenStudio 2.x.
SystemError('The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.',)

any help please???

Hi again Jasper! Thank you for your interest. As I'm so bad in predicting the time so let me not to commit to any time. I can only say that I'm still working on it and am trying to connect the development to OpenStudio. There is still another round of refinement left and then it will be ready to test. Are you interested in give it a try when the test version is ready?

If you are willing to add to the development I'll be more than happy to help you on that too. Just let me know how do you want to support the development. :)

Awesome, when would it be out for testing, and is their any way to support you work ?

Hi Michal, Both are good ideas. Thanks. I'm still not sure what would be the useful output to have it as default though. Total energy use? Energy Intensity per area? Energy Intensity per person? Intensity based on hours of use?, etc. Maybe all? I'm still not sure.

Hi,

Some more suggestion from my side...

1.when we talk about % of glass would be cool somehow to fix Level of window installation and just change height and width...

2. some results output in useable way, automatic formatted outputs: energy, assumptions etc.

I see your point. Definitely possible! Let me think about the best way of implementation. -Thanks!

Hi Mostapha,
Just to be clear in point 2, my suggestion was to allow change constructions in parametric analysis way (like the rotation of the building). I'm sure that changing materials is already there, but automatically change them? ... i'm not sure. For instance, changing the section of the wall while the insulation changes depth while the other materials remain the same, or different types of glazing.

Hi Abraham,

Great comments as always!

1. Good idea! I will think to implement it in some way.

2. This is already there. You can update the construction for a zone or a surface.

3. This one is also already there for EnergyPlus. I assume you are asking for the daylighting component. I will consider to provide it. It could be really useful. I'm thinking to do something similar to TT's export to excel component: (http://www.grasshopper3d.com/video/animated-writing-of-grasshopper-...)

4. I'm planning to use OpenStudio Libraries for Honeybee so you will be able to apply more than only ideal system. They already have the standard ASHRAE systems implemented which is pretty cool. You should be able to customize all the inputs that you said. Very good point!

Hi Mostapha,
Thanks.
In the meantime some things that i didn't understand from the video that may be already in but maybe not.
Since i myself am developing an interface for E+ i know some insights about how things are going on. But anyway: Parametric analysis would be important to implement in some issues:
1. As in Ladybug, the rotation of the building(s) will be nice with the fix context. In this case thew way it is done in LB will function well here.
2. Materials: Choosing different construction sets for the envelope will be also nice. This applies, of course, also for the windows. I assume the user is enabled to define materials and constructions, but just in case, this will be important.
3. Export results to text files (or csv)
4. Simulation settings as infiltration rate, assuming you are using ideal system (i hope so) COP of this system, temperature setpoints, loads (people, lights, equipment, ...), daylight control(s).

In the meantime that's it.

Hi Abraham, Thanks! You are absolutely right about the beta test version. I'll give you a heads up when the beta version is ready to be tested.
